chiro’s Malt Mizunara Wood Reserve
This whisky brings together single malts from Chichibu and the legendary Hanyu Distillery, whose stocks Ichiro Akuto inherited after its closure in 2000. These undisclosed, multi-aged malts are blended and then matured in a variety of barrels before a final rest in highly prized Japanese Mizunara oak: a wood renowned for producing uniquely aromatic and spicy whiskies.
Aroma:
Rich and layered, with apricots, caramelized apples, warm cooking spices, gentle peat, and a thread of licorice.
Palate:
Mizunara oak leads with its distinctive green, spicy character, followed by waves of cooked ripe fruits, dried figs, and roasted peaches.
Finish:
Long and evolving—spice and stewed fruits taper into candied apricot tones and a pleasant, refined dryness.
