A limited single cask Speyside single malt from Duncan Taylor’s acclaimed Octave Series, distilled in 2011 at an unnamed “Iconic Distillery” and matured for 10 years before bottling in 2021. After its initial maturation in oak casks, the whisky was finished in a small octave cask — a technique used to intensify wood interaction and enhance flavour development.
This particular release produced just 86 bottles, making it a rare and collectible small-batch expression.
Duncan Taylor’s Octave Series utilises specially sized octave casks, significantly smaller than traditional casks, which increase the whisky’s contact with the wood. This accelerated maturation process allows the spirit, air and oak to interact more closely, refining the whisky’s character and deepening its complexity.
The result is a well-balanced Speyside single malt with enhanced richness, depth and structure, offering a sophisticated profile shaped by careful maturation and the influence of the octave cask finish.
