Kavalan is Taiwan’s pioneering whisky distillery, founded in 2005 and widely recognized for redefining world whisky through its tropical maturation style. Aging whisky in Taiwan’s warm climate accelerates interaction with the cask, producing intense flavour in relatively short timeframes. The Vinho Barrique expression, matured in STR wine casks, is one of the distillery’s most celebrated releases and was named World’s Best Single Malt Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Ripe tropical fruit and melon lead, followed by caramel, wine-soaked berries, and hints of chocolate and almond.
Palate: Full-bodied and intense, with layers of dark fruit, caramel, and spice balanced by rich oak and a velvety texture.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering chocolate, fruit, and a refined, wine-influenced sweetness.
